Am I Suitable?
If you’re wanting to get rid of an unwanted tattoo, this treatment is for you!
Prior to the treatment, you must undergo a full Laser Consultation. This will confirm your suitability for this treatment. We will check your skin type, your medical history and your current medication list. We will also look at the area being treated and complete a patch test to ensure a safe treatment.
From here, our team will get your full course of treatments booked in.
How Does Tattoo Removal Work?
Q-Switch Lasers are the most suitable and effective lasers for treating tattoo removal. They work by generating a high-powered beam of laser light with an extremely short pulse. This light is absorbed by the tattoo ink particles, which will break them into smaller pieces. Your immune defence will then absorb these smaller pieces and disperse the ink.
Over a course of treatments, gradual fading of your tattoo will occur.
The number of treatments required to achieve the desired results can vary for each tattoo. It depends on the density and colour of inks used, as well as the age of the tattoo.
Amateur tattoos can be removed fairly quick, usually taking 1-6 treatments. However, professional tattoos can vary dramatically, and some can take up to 15 treatments.
Your treatment sessions will be spaced between 6-10 weeks apart.
How Is The Treatment Carried Out?
During your treatment, you will be required to wear protective goggles. Your skin will be cleansed and then we will treat the area with the laser. We will then apply a soothing lotion and a light dressing may be applied.
The feeling of this treatment is described as a hot pin prick or a flick of an elastic band. We use cooling devices to reduce any discomfort that may be felt.
Straight after the treatment, you will notice whitening of the area. This will fade quickly after.
Initially, your tattoo is unlikely to look any different, but it will fade over the next 4-8 weeks as the body disperses it.
Possible Side Effects:
Following your treatment, skin may feel tender.
Redness and swelling may occur for up to 48 hours.
A graze may form over the area - this must be left to heal naturally.
Possible loss of ability to naturally tan in the area being treated. This usually improves with time.
