Removing Skin Pigmentation - The Journey...

Let’s Treat Skin Pigmentation.

Skin pigmentation - Those darker patches that just seem to appear out of no where. Most of us have probably experienced these, maybe even more than once. These patches are a result of damage to the skin, which can been caused by the sun, or natural changes in hormones or ageing. They can appear after taking certain medication. Pigment is very common and often completely harmless.

What is Skin Pigmentation/Sun Damage?

Skin Pigmentation, or as we call them “pigmented lesions”, are skin spots or growths that are caused by the melanin in your skin. Melanin is produced by the melanocyte cell in your skin, and it’s what gives your skin it’s pigment (colour).

As I have already mentioned, most of the time, these lesions are harmless. However, it’s important that you keep a close eye on these areas, and if you were to notice any changes to the colour, size or shape of the lesions, we recommend consulting your GP.

For those harmless pigmented lesions, at Pure Emporium, we have an amazing treatment that can remove/reduce the appearance of these darker patches.

Treating Pigmented Lesions

At Pure Emporium Skin & Laser Clinic, we use our Medical Grade Laser machine to remove pigmented lesions. Using this amazing technology can dramatically reduce the appearance of pigmentation, and often remove it completely!

But how?

We use IPL technology. - Intense Pulsed Light. The pigmented lesions will absorb the light, which causes them to heat up. The heat causes damage to the cells that contain the melanin, while causing minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Following the treatment, the damage lesions turn darker and may form a “crust”. Over the following weeks they will gradually flake away from the skin, leaving little to no trace of the original mark.

The Journey with Pigmentation

Let’s break it down…

Step 1 - You would come and visit us at Pure Emporium Skin & Laser Clinic, and receive a Laser Consultation. During your consultation, we will talk about your concerns and what you're looking to achieve and discuss your personal goals. If your pigmented lesion is on the face, we will look closely at what the concerns are with our Skin Analysis Machine. Together we will build your laser treatment plan and remove all the guesswork. You will also receive a patch test from the machine. Your Consultation price is fully redeemable off a Course of Laser Treatments.

Step 2 - It’s now treatment time. During your appointment, the area being treated should become darker. This is a great sign that the treatment has been effective.

Step 3 - Over the following days, micro-crusting of the lesion will occur.

Step 4 - The lesion will eventually “flake-off”, leaving the area without any excess pigmentation.

Step 5 - When treating an area of pigmentation, normally 1-3 treatments are required. These will take place every 4-6 weeks.

AND VOILA! Your pigmented lesion will be gone!
