Treating acne with our amazing Medical Grade Laser Machine has been ground-breaking and for many clients, it’s been life changing!

Using our Lynton Laser Machine, we can treat acne with IPL (intense pulsed light).

Using Intense Pulsed Light alone, or in addition to our other facial treatments, has been proved to effectively treated acne. Intense Pulse Light works by greatly reducing the number of skin lesions, as well as the severity of “active breakouts” and reducing the inflammation and frequency of breakouts.

So, How Does The Treatment Work?

During the treatment, light is emitted from our Intense Pulsed Light System. This light will directly target any overactive sebaceous glands. These are what cause breakouts on your skin.

By targeting your sebaceous glands, we can dramatically reduce the total number of active breakouts, as well as reducing how severe they are on your skin. In time, your skin will become less-inflamed and your re-occurring breakouts will become less and less.

The light from the IPL will stimulate the production of new collagen, which will help to improve your skin’s texture. It will also reduce the appearance of red/brown areas, that are often associated with acne.

Am I Suitable For The Treatment?

Before any physical IPL Treatment is carried out, we always complete a Laser Consultation first. The can be booked easily online, simply click here. Your consultation will cover your medical history and your suitability. You will also receive a test patch.

Regarding IPL, almost everyone can be treated. We cannot treat darker skin types, or recently tanned skin. You must leave at least 4 weeks after any sun exposure before having a treatment.

If you are pregnant or currently taking roaccutane, it is advised to not undergo any laser treatment.

What Does The Treatment Involve?

Your Skin Therapist will apply a layer of chilled gel over your skin to help guide the light. A light guide will be placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released and directed towards the sebaceous glands. The light will be passed over the skin several times and then will be moved to the next area. This is repeated until the whole area is treated. Each pulse of light can target a large area of skin, meaning that the length of the treatment can be very short. After the IPL stage of the treatment, the gel is simply removed and your skin is moisturised. - And Voila! - it’s that simple!

The treatment is mildly uncomfortable. Many describe the feeling as similar to a warm flick of an elastic band. After the treatment, the skin can appear red and you may experience a warm, tingly sensation. We cool the skin to ease any discomfort, as well as applying a skin-calming gel.

This treatment often comes with little to no side-effects. Your skin can become red after the treatment, but this usually disappears within a couple of hours.

How Many Treatments Are Required?

For everyone, number of treatments required can vary. But for significant improvement, we would recommend a course of 6 IPL Treatments. For amazing results, add on a Dermalux treatment to your IPL Session.
