Is One Microneedling Treatment Enough?
If you’ve been considering microneedling, one of the first questions you might have is: will I see a difference after just one treatment, or do I need a course?
And the answer is… it really depends on your skin and what you’d like to improve.
At Pure Emporium Skin & Laser Clinic Hereford, we work with Mesoestetic for our Microneedling treatments. Microneedling is an advanced treatment designed to create controlled microchannels within the skin, stimulating its natural renewal processes and encouraging the production of collagen and elastin.
It can be an incredible treatment for improving overall skin quality, but when we're trying to make a noticeable difference to a specific skin concern, there's a reason we will often recommend more than one session.
Can I See Results After One Microneedling Treatment?
Yes! You absolutely can.
Following one microneedling treatment, your skin may begin to look fresher, smoother and more radiant as it goes through its natural renewal process.
But one of the important things to understand about microneedling is that it isn't necessarily an instant-results treatment.
Microneedling is essentially asking your skin to do some work.
By creating controlled microchannels, we're triggering a natural healing response within the skin and stimulating processes involved in the production of new collagen and elastin. This continues beyond the day of your appointment, meaning some of the changes we're looking for develop gradually.
So while one treatment can be a lovely way to refresh your complexion and support overall skin quality, we may recommend a course if there's something more specific you'd like to work on.
Why Would I Need A Course Of Microneedling?
Think of it a little like going to the gym.
One workout can make you feel great, but if you're working towards a particular goal, it's consistency over time that usually creates the bigger change.
Microneedling works in a similar way.
Each treatment stimulates another controlled renewal response within the skin. By completing a carefully planned course, we're able to progressively work towards improvements in concerns such as:
• Acne scarring
• Uneven or rough skin texture
• Enlarged pores
• Fine lines
• Loss of firmness
• Uneven skin tone
• Skin that has lost some of its radiance
Rather than trying to dramatically change the skin in one appointment, we're working with its natural processes over time.
How Many Microneedling Treatments Will I Need?
While every skin is different, a course of 3–6 microneedling treatments is generally recommended when we're working towards a more noticeable improvement in a particular skin concern.
Someone wanting a general skin refresh may have very different requirements from somebody who is hoping to improve the appearance of acne scarring or more established changes in skin texture. Your recommended number of sessions within that 3–6 treatment course will therefore depend on your starting point, the concern we're treating, your skin's response and the result you're hoping to achieve.
This is why we prefer to create you a personalised treatment plan.
What Happens Between Treatments?
This is actually one of the most important parts.
Your microneedling appointment might be finished when you leave the clinic, but the processes we've stimulated within your skin aren't.
Collagen remodelling and skin renewal take time, which is why microneedling results can continue to develop following treatment. Your skin needs appropriate recovery time between appointments, and your therapist will advise you on when your next treatment should take place.
Your home skincare matters too. Supporting your skin with the right products and daily SPF can form an important part of your overall treatment plan.
Are you ready to get booked in….
If you're simply looking for a skin refresh, one microneedling treatment may be all you want.
If you're hoping to work on a more established concern such as acne scarring, texture, enlarged pores, fine lines or loss of firmness, a planned course is more likely to be recommended.
The best place to start is with a consultation.
We can take a closer look at your skin, talk about what's bothering you and create a personalised treatment plan based around your skin, your goals and your lifestyle.
Because when it comes to advanced skin treatments, there really is no such thing as one size fits all.
