Let’s be honest, and I’m sure you will agree with me, ingrown hairs are a pain.

They are unsightly, they are sore and they are not wanted.

What is an ingrown hair?!

An ingrown hair is where the hair has grown in the wrong direction and grows back into the skin - your skins natural reaction is to encapsulate it to prevent infection and this, in most cases, causes a red itchy bump. They are a pain.

Sometimes you can actually see the hair underneath the skin that has got trapped.

It’s common to suffer from ingrown hairs on the face and neck, legs, underarms, chest, back, and most commonly, the pubic area!

Why do I get ingrown hairs?

Unfortunately, some people are naturally more prone to them than others.

During any type of hair removal the hair needs to grow back through the surface of the skin. This could be when you shave or wax.

If you have a buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin then you will be more likely to suffer from ingrown hairs. This is something that isn’t necessarily visible - our skin turnovers dead skin cells every day!

How do I prevent ingrown hairs or get rid of them?

By keeping on top of regular, gentle exfoliation as well as thorough skin moisturizing with skin nourishing ingredients, this is the best way to discourage ingrown hairs from forming.
