What Can Be Treated with Laser/IPL?

With the Lumina, there are a wide range of treatments options to target various concerns. At Pure Emporium, we can treat:

  • Hair Removal

  • Vascular and Pigmented Lesions

  • Acne

  • Scarring

  • Stretch Marks

  • Skin Rejuvenation

  • illumiFacial

  • Tattoo Removal (coming to Pure Emporium soon)

How Does IPL Hair Removal Work?

With IPL, the pigment in your hair absorbs the light and produces heat. This heat then damages the hair follicle in such a way as to inhibit growth. The hairs that are in the active growth stage will then fall out over a period of 1-3 weeks.

For optimum results on the body, we recommend 6-10 sessions, 6 weeks apart.

For optimum results on the face, we recommend 8-12 sessions, 4 weeks apart.

*For Hair Removal, hair must be of a darker pigment. We cannot treat blonde, grey or white hair.

What Aftercare do I need to follow after Hair Removal?

Following your IPL Hair removal treatment, we recommend:

  • Avoid exercise for 24/48 hours

  • Avoid perfumed products, hot baths, saunas etc. for 24/48 hours

  • If the skin is broken, do not apply makeup

  • Apply Lynton’s Light Soothe Serum to cool the area. This product is also antibacterial.

  • Apply SPF and avoid sun exposure on the treated area for 2 weeks following the treatment.

Am I Suitable for a Laser/IPL Treatment?

With Laser Treatments, we take extra pre-caution when it comes to medical conditions and medications. This is something that is always covered in any consultation. However, before getting booked in, always check the following…

Do any of the following apply to you?

- Pregnancy

- Skin Pigmentation Disorders e.g. Melasma, Vitiligo

- Cancer treatment within last 3 years

- Malignant Melanoma

- Diabetes that is not controlled

- Epilepsy seizure within lase 12 months

- Lymphatic Disorders – needs written consent from Doctor

- Immune System Disorders – needs written consent from Doctor

- Keloid Scarring

- Any Photosensitising Conditions e.g. Lupus

- Contagious Diseases (HIV is fine, if controlled by medication)

If any of the above DO apply to you, we are sorry to say that we are unable to treat you with the Laser Machine.

What Is the Minimum Age for Treatment?

For all Laser and IPL treatments, client’s must be 18 and over.

What Can I Expect When Treating Sun-Damage?

Following a series of treatments, we expect you to see a significant reduction in any patches of uneven skin tone and pigmentation. Your skin is going to look more even in colour, with a healthy, youthful and more flawless appearance.

Regarding “Sun damage”, we can treat sun spots, freckles and age spots.

We would recommend a course of 4-6 treatments, 3-4 weeks apart.

How Does IPL for Acne Work?

We’ve known for some time that acne responds really well to light. At Pure Emporium, we use IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). This directly targets the overactive sebaceous glands, as well as destroying the bacteria that is directly linked with acne.

For these treatments, we can treat most forms of acne. The only one we won’t be able to treat is Cystic Acne. This should always be treated by a dermatologist.

What Is the illumiFacial and How Does it Work?

The illumiFacial is a facial combination treatment using specially selected fruit acids and light.

We use the Lynton Tri-Fruit Acid Peel to remove dead skin cells. The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is then absorbed within the dermis (lowest layer of skin), improving skin texture by causing mild erythema and reversible damage to the collagen network.

With this treatment, we can “spot treat” individual areas of broken thread vessels and pigmented lesions to give a full skin overhaul.

The benefits of this treatment are:

  • Softer and Smoother

  • Less Visible Pores

  • More Uniform In Colour

  • Flawless Finish

  • Healthy Feeling

How Does Fractional Resurfacing Work?

This is a Non-Ablative Laser Resurfacing treatment that creates microscopic holes in the skin's surface.

Heat is produced through to our lowest layer of the skin, to stimulate our skin's cells. A wound healing response will begin, as well as increased stimulation of our collagen and elastin. This will improve our skin's texture, the appearance of wrinkles and scarring. The treatment is fantastic for pigmentation, acne, acne scarring and full face rejuvenation.

Treatment is advised to be repeated every 4 – 6 weeks.
