Problematic/Breakout Prone Skin - Let's Treat It!

Problematic and breakout prone skin is one of the most stressful skin concerns. Our skin concerns can make us change the way that we view ourselves, and when it comes to breakouts, it can be so frustrating.

At some point, we’ve probably all been there. You wake up, look in the mirror and see a HUGEEEE breakout that wants to ruin your day. A lot of the time, it feels worse than it actually is, but there’s no denying that we all feel much more confident when our skin is looking clear and fresh. With the make up game now changing, everyone wants the minimal, “clean” make up look and a fresh, healthy skin base to apply this on is a MUST.

Today, we are going to be talking through some of our top tips for promoting healthy, fresh and flawless skin. Together, we can achieve our skin goals.

Let’s get into it…

Healthy Diet

First and foremost, we all need to have a healthy, balanced diet. Ensuring that we are feeding our skin with the right nutrients is ESSENTIAL when it comes to having clear skin. Our skin needs the correct vitamins to allow it to function properly.

At Pure Emporium Skin & Laser Clinic, we always recommend a colourful diet. Eating foods that contain a variety of Vitamins and Minerals, are going to feed your skin from the inside-out, and allow it to promote a flawless filter.

Fruits and Vegetables are amazing when it comes to Skin Health. Vitamins, minerals and antioxidants all make a change to your skin. Think about adding some of the following into your diet:

  • Spinach

  • Carrots

  • Brocolli

  • Raspberries

  • Blueberries

  • Kiwis

  • Kale

  • Beans

Reducing Your Alcohol Intake

We all know that alcohol has negative side effects on our bodies. When it comes to problematic skin, having too much alcohol can actually make it worse. Alcohol is a diuretic and can cause excessive urination. This can result in dehydration as we lose vital fluids and electrolytes.

When we become dehydrated, our skin can feel the effects too. As a result of this, our sebaceous glands will produce excess oil to help promote hydration. However, excess oil can cause more breakouts or make our current breakouts worse and more active.

We aren’t telling you to completely stop drinking alcohol. - (we all love a cheeky glass of red after a long day too…) but try adding a glass of water here and there to keep yourself hydrated.

Keep Your Skin Clean

Keeping your skin clean and free of any bacteria is essential when it comes to preventing problematic skin concerns. We all know that bacteria, dirt and grime on our skin, can clog our pores and cause us some serious skin problems! So, here are some of our top tips when it comes to keeping your skin clean and fresh.

  • Remove your makeup before working out - With exercising sweat and bacteria can sit on our skin and clog our pores. Ensure that you are cleansing before working out and showering straight after to keep skin looking clean and fresh.

  • Cleanse twice a day - You should be cleansing your skin morning and night to ensure that it is kept clean. Double cleansing is essential when it comes to remove any impurities off the skin. At Pure Emporium, we recommend using Environ’s Sebu Wash Gel Cleanser to gently cleanse and remove any dirt off your skin, whilst maintaining your skin’s moisture levels.

  • Keeping your bed sheets clean - Refreshing your bed sheets regularly, including pillowcases can actually help to prevent and reduce acne. Removing dead skin cells, oil and harmful bacteria from your sheets, ensures that there is little chance to cause damage or irritation to your skin.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is an essential vitamin when it comes to treating problematic skin. Vitamin A will help to encourage the growth of fresh and new skin cells, whilst breaking down current dead skin cells. It will also reduce inflammation and redness, whilst evening out your skin tone. Vitamin A is actually a natural exfoliant, as well as helping to regulate and normalise your skin’s moisture levels.

There are so many ways to target our skin with Vitamin A. Through food, skincare supplements and skincare products.

Skincare Treatments

At Pure Emporium Skin & Laser Clinic, we have a variety of treatments available, that can help achieve fresh, healthy and clear skin. For Acne/Problematic Skin, we have 3 different treatments available:

  • illumiFacial - Starting with the best of the best. The illumiFacial is our newest treatment addition to Pure Emporium. This is a perfect treatment for congested skin. The Tri-Fruit Acid Peel unclogs and decongests your skin's pores to lessen future acne breakouts. Then, the IPL part of the treatment can help to clear up current breakouts, as well as evening out skin tone and reducing the appearance of acne scarring. For this treatment, a laser consultation must be carried out first.

  • Environ Facial - An Environ facial is great when it comes to reaching the lower layers of your skin. If you suffer with acne/problematic skin, we would recommend an Environ Cool Peel. This is a new, modern facial peel that has been introduced to the skincare industry. Using a lower concentration of lactic acid peel, we can reduce the skin's PH and trigger the release of growth factors. It will destroy bacteria, boosts hydration and removes the build up of dead skin cells, helping to decongest the surface and smooth texture.

  • Dermalux Treatment - The Dermalux Flex is facial that uses LED Phototherapy. By introducing a Dermalux Flex facial into your skin care journey, can help you to achieve visibly radiant, rejuvenated and refined beautiful skin. We can use the Wavelengths during the treatment individually or together. This enables us to treat a wide range of skin concerns.

Blue Light - Antibacterial. Great for acne skins. Also amazing at calming, reducing and preventing further breakouts.

Red Light - Hydration. Boosts your moisture levels in your skin. As well as reducing fine lines and promoting our collagen and elastin production.

Near Infrared Light - Skin Healing and Anti-inflammatory. Reduce the appearance of pigmentation. This wavelength can also be used to treat acne and rosacea.

With any skin treatments at Pure Emporium, we always recommend booking for a Skin Analysis Consultation first, to ensure that you are going down the right route to treat your skin concerns. You can book this online now! Click here.
