THE BENEFITS OF MASSAGE

We LOVE carrying out massage treatments in the salon.

It’s so important to take time out of your daily life to purely rest, recharge and give your brain time to switch off whilst rebalancing the mind.

We know that massage plays a huge role in relaxation, but what are the other benefits?!

1. Counteract the time spent sitting

It’s a known fact that most of us are dealing with some sort of postural stress. This is where, if our posture isn’t perfect all of the time, then we’re going to feel tension build up in the back. This tension will most often sit within our lower back, shoulders and neck.

With more of the population working from home than ever before, being sat in one position all day is putting you under postural stress. You’re not need to do the commute to the office, or the walk to work.

Luckily massage can really help to undo the tension build up caused by sitting for prolonged period of time. To keep on top of it, it’s recommended to schedule in a monthly massage if you have a desk job!

2. Eases your muscle aches and pain

Are your muscles feeling your latest workout? Repetitive strain from work? Super-active weekend or maybe a sporting holiday?

Inside aching muscles there is inflammation and a natural build-up of lactic acid (of which fuels the muscles to work hard.) By improving circulation, massage helps to reduce the symptoms of aching and give you the feeling of ‘freeing up’ muscles.

3. It soothes anxiety and depression

The art of human touch is exceptionally powerful. In a safe, friendly and professional manner, it can be incredibly therapeutic and relaxing.

Massage can promote the release of positive endorphins in the brain, in particular serotonin and dopamine, encouraging relaxion, as well as reducing anxiety, stress, nervousness, and tension.

Who doesn’t want a boost of happiness and well-being once a month?! I know I do!

4. It improves sleep

Whilst encouraging a good night’s sleep, it can also assist those who have trouble resting comfortably.

Due to the natural boost to relaxation, the mind calms easier, and allows you to drift off into a deeper, better state of sleep. It’s always recommended to take full advantage of this benefit after a massage, ensuring you get a nice early night to allow your body to rest and recharge further.

5. It boosts immunity

A study published back in 2010 study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that massage boosts patients’ white blood cell count, which plays a large role in defending the body from disease.

6. It helps to relieve headaches

More often than not, a headache can actually be a ‘tension headache’, that can be caused by stress and tension built up within the neck and shoulder muscles. If you find that you suffer from regular head-aches, get yourself booked in to receive a massage and receive them on a regular basis. Massage can really help to decrease the frequency and severity of tension headaches.

With all of these points taken into account, you now know just how incredibly beneficial receiving regular massage treatments can be.
