HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY HAIR CUT?

How often do you currently get your hair cut?

Maybe once a year?

Maybe twice a year?

Maybe you love the hair cut feeling so much that you’re super duper hot on it.

Getting your hair cut can easily be something we don’t prioritise… yet we know we should probably do more often.

Especially when you fall into the trap of thinking ‘I’m trying to grow it, so I don’t want to get it cut.’ – sound familiar?

Believe it or not, you could be doing more harm than good when trying to grow your hair by skipping your regular snip at the hairdressers.

Did you know ones hair grows (on average) half an inch a month.

That’s a total of up to 6 inches in per year.

Some may be more, some may be less.  This can also be dependent on the health of the hair, length and type.

Regular haircuts should be something that we make time for on a regular basis. Every 6-8 weeks is the recommend time

That’s every 2 months maximum - and here’s why...

If you want to keep your current style looking fab, staying in shape, and in the best condition, every 6-8 weeks is the way forwards.

A hair CUT, doesn’t have to mean a hair RESTYLE, it can just mean a TRIM.

If you’re growing it, it’s still super important to get the ends snipped just as regularly, even if it’s just a small amount.

When growing out your hair, you have to speculate to accumulate (as Del Boy would say.) – but without the gamble!

The reason is because when we are growing it, we still need to keep our hair as healthy as possible.

Our hair will naturally get damaged by general wear and tear due to styling, the sun, certain products usage such as hairspray or low quality / incorrect products suited to your hair, medication, hormone imbalances, etc etc etc.

When the hair is left over a long period of time without a cut, this wear and tear can take its toll and you’ll find your ends can become split and thin.

If you try and grow your hair without a regular trim, you are putting yourself at risk of creating thin, spindly ends due to split ends. If we’re trying to grow it, we want it to look thick, full, healthy and in its best condition.

When split ends are not dealt with, they will naturally create more damage over time by creeping further and further up the hair. Imagine a ladder in your tights… It just keeps on getting worse. Each time you pull or move those tights, the ladder gets worse. This is exactly what happens when you have split ends.

By receiving a trim and snipping away those split ends away, the ends are left blunt and thicker. Less split ends = better condition = healthier hair growth = longer hair.

By basing your appointments around the 6-8 week guideline, you’re doing your hair a massive favour in the long run, and it will be kept looking funky fresh 😊
